She graduated from the Politecnico di Milano university in 1951, and after lengthy collaboration with Marco Zanuso, she opened her own studio in 1963.
She has worked in Italy and abroad, concentrating her research on the functionality of space and the psychological relationship between man and the environment. Many of her works have been shown in museums and international exhibitions.
She has held conferences and lectured at many universities in Italy and abroad. She was a Board Member of the XVI Triennale in Milan. She has participated in many juries for international competitions and has worked on several publications.
She has received many prizes and honours, including: Product Design Award Resources Council Inc. (1978), the “Compasso d’Oro” prize, Milan (1979), Roscoe New York (1984), Stuttgart Design(1985 e 1990), Gold Medal “Apostolo del design” Milan (2003), “Dama d’argento” – Poldi Pezzoli Milan (2006), “Milanodonna” City of Milan (2007), “Piramidi dell’Accademia Italiana” Florence (2008), the “IIC Lifetime Achievement Award” Los Angeles (2008), Good Design Award Chicago (2008), Rome Quirinal Palace – President of the Republic: for honorable service “Grande Ufficiale” of Italy (2011), XXII “Compasso d’Oro” from ADI, “Compasso d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement from the President of Italy (2012).
